Baskin Robbins was developed by two gentlemen, which happened to be brothers-in-law, by the name of Irvine Robbins and Burton Baskin. Burton and Irvine both loved ice-cream and together they wanted to create a place where ice cream lover’s, like themselves, could enjoy many different flavors and have fun with their families. Burton and Irvine started out with their own ice cream shops but around 1953 they joined together to create Baskin Robbins. From there an advertising agency created the logo Baskin Robbins 31. “31” stood for thirty one different flavors, one flavor for each day of the month. This was not the only thing used to represent Baskin Robbins, but they also had pink and brown polka dot cups and iconic pink tasting spoons to bring their flavors alive.
In 1954 Baskin Robbins won their first Gold Medal at the Los Angeles County Fair and has continued to earn Gold Medals every year since then. Baskin Robbins now offers more than 1,000 flavors of ice cream, along with ice cream cakes, hand packed quarts or half gallons, and their growing beverages, such as their Cappuccino Blast and Fruit Blast Smoothies.
